John Jay Youth Football and Cheer was established in 1975 and continues to be a staple in our youth athletic community. We pride ourselves in the commitment to teaching our youth athletes the sports of football and cheer and instilling the character, commitment, respect and the camaraderie it takes to be a successful team member and person. John Jay Youth Football and Cheer is a chartered member of USA Football.

We offer youth football teams from 3rd to 8th grade. Team and league details along with other information can be found on this website. We require every player to accumulate 10 hours of supervised conditioning practices along with an additional 10 hours of full pad practices before a player can participate in a game situation. This schedule allows most of the players to achieve the required practice hours while accommodating for vacation time or summer activities. If a player does not achieve the required practice time by the first scrimmage or game, they will be prohibited by the league from any game situations until the required time is met. These requirements are based on safety and making sure the players are properly conditioned and ready to play. For those players that are short on conditioning hours at the start of the season, we do our best to work with them to meet the league-mandated requirements. All John Jay Youth Football coaches are certified by USA Football through the “Heads Up” program, trained and certified by the CDC in concussion awareness, and at least three coaches on every staff are certified in First Aid/CPR. All teams are also equipped with a first aid kit and AED machine.

We are also offering a youth sideline cheer program this year for participants from 1st through 5th grade.  This program is a great way to learn the basics of cheer and support our teams at games.
